Recently many studies and development of allergology especially in allergic rhinitis have been carried out and the number of allergic rhinitis patients has been increased. Allergic study was performed with 641 cases of allergic rhinitis at allergic clinic of the St. Benedict Hospital from Jan., 1981 to July, 1986. The results were as follows : 1) The number of patients has been increased 2.3 times during this period and the ratio of allergic rhinitis to new out patient was 3.91%. 2) The peak age of allergic rhinitis was 3rd decade(25.1%) and 4th decade(24.5%). 3) The peaks of monthly distribution were Jan.-Feb.(22.5%) and Aug.-Sep.(21.8%). 4) The most common offending allergens and their positive rates were D. Farinae 64.4%, House dust 56.3%, D. pteronyssinus 18.6%, Cat fur 16.9%, Group A1(mixed inhalents) 15.7%, Egg whole 14.9%, Silk 13.6%, Mixed threshings 9.8%, Feathers mixed 9.6%. 5) Prevalenece of skin test per month for common offending allergens were as follows; Dusts on Aug.-Sep., Epitherials on Jan.-Feb. and Aug., Pollens on Apr.. 6) The ratio of positive skin test per age were as follows; Dusts in 4th, 3rd, 2nd decade(73.5%), Epithelials in 1st, 4th, 2nd decade(75.8%), Pollens in 2nd-5th decade(68.0%). 7) The positive rate of nasal smear for eosinophil was 61.7% of all cases, above 6% of eosinophil in peripheral blood was 38% of all cases, and 45% all had above
300/mm3 of blood eosinophil. 8) The total serum IgE of allergic rhinitis was 400.5IU/ml and the total serum IgG was 1302.4mg/dl.
