ABSTRACT |
The authors used a Foley catheter for the control of the bleeding from the maxillary antrum after Caldwell-Luc's operation. The 956 patients with chronic paranasal sinusitis(1,741 cases of Caldwell-Luc's operation) were selected during 10 years from Jan. 1976 to Dec. 1985. There were excellent bleeding control effect in 1,536 cases(88.2%), good bleeding control effect in 134 cases(7.7%) and little effect in 37 cases(2.1%). We experienced excellent bleeding control effect in most of cases and patients felt little pain during the removal of a Foley catheter. And We experienced good bleeding control effect in posterior nasal bleeding for the 112 patients admitted during the same period.
