The neck mass is easily found by physical examination but diagnosis is so difficult that conclusive diagnosis can be reached only histopathologically. A clinical review of 237 cases of the neck mass which had been confirmed by the histopathological examination was done retrospectively during recent 5 years. The results obtained were followings ; 1) The benign masses(congenital, inflammatory and benign tumors) were 146 cases(62%) and the malignant massess(metastatic, occult primary and primary tumors) were 91 cases(38%). 2) The most frequent benign mass was inflammatory(53%) and malignant was metastatic(62%). 3) Of the metastatic neck masses, the most common primary site was larynx(52%). 4) The peak incidence of age was the third decade(36%) in benign masses and was the seventh decade(40%) in malignant masses. 5) Of the nodal stage of the metastatic neck mass, the most common stage was N2(52%), especially N2b(36%).
