Clinical Review of Muscle and Myocutaneous Flap for Reconstruction of Head and Neck

ABSTRACT

It has been possible to perform the wide excision of the tumors, to increase indications for operation, and to obtain the outstainding postoperative prognosis of head and neck cancer due to the development of muscle and myocutaneous flap for reconstruction of the head and neck. There is, however, a weak point of this kind of surgery to observe the recurrence with difficulty. It has been experienced recently that 13 cases of head and neck cancer were managed with the side excision and the reconstruction using muscle or myocutaneous flap recent 3 years from 1985 to 1987. Thus, it is reported that they are consisted with 13 cases of myocutaneous flap, along with a review of literatures.
