ABSTRACT |
The initial treatment of benign esophageal stricture is in most cases non-surgical means of dilatation. The conventional method of dilatation of esophageal stricture with various kind of bougie is not satisfactory because it may be do nothing but a temporary dilatation. In infants and children, endoscope dilatation must done under general anesthesia and if dilator is passed orally in unanethetic child, it was very dangerous. So, in infants and children, balloon dilatation may be effective and safe, and should be considered before other method of treatment are used. We have
performed balloon dilatation in two years old female patient who have esophageal stricture after ingestion of acetic acid and we obtained favorable result.
