ABSTRACT |
The inter-relationship of vertigo and stress has been discussed in the previous literatures and emotional aspects have been implicated as an etiologic factor. From January to September 1988, 50 cases, diagnosed as peripheral vertigo, were studied to illustrate the relation between emotional and statistical analysis of data obstained in Cornell Medical Index, Fukamachi discriminative chart and MMPI. The results were as follows : 1) In vertiginous case, 15 patients were diagnosed as Meniere's disease, 11 as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, 8 as vestibular neuronitis and other 16 cases. 2) In CMI, 37(74%) out of 50 cases were presumably picked up as neurosis by the number of complaints. 3) In Fukanachi discriminative chart, 37(74%) out of 50 cases were classified into III or IV regions regarded as neurosis. 4) In MMPI, 24 out of 40 cases were diagnosed as neurosis, 3 as psychosis by psychiatrist, making up 27(67%) as neurosis or psychosis.
