ABSTRACT |
Cystic lymphangioma, or cystic hygroma is a multilocular cystic tumor of a benign neoplastic nature. It has a lymphatic origin by congenital defect of lymphatic vessel and whose space is lined with a single layer of endothelium, containing serous or serosanginous fluid. Cystic hygroma usually occurs in posterior cervical triangle, or supraclavicular area in 80% of case. And it occurs unilocular or multilocular, and its wall is very thin. The cystic hygroma in parotid gland is very rare. Its symptom appears at birth or early in life. The authors have experienced a case, which has increased size rapidly after facial trauma in 16-year old male without facial nerve paralysis. It was removed by superficial parotidectomy and finally diagnosed as cystic hygroma histologically. So we report this case with brief review of literature.
