ABSTRACT |
Primary tracheal tumors are relatively uncommon, of which adenoid cystic carcinoma is even rare. Recently, the authors have experienced a case of tracheal adenoid cystic carcinoma. The patient, a 28 year old woman, was referred to SNUH after a cytologic study(fine needle aspiration) with the result of adenoid cystic carcinoma and the chief complaint of a right neck mass on January. 13th, 1989. Tissue diagnosis was confirmed as adenoid cystic carcinoma by bronchoscopic biopsy and temporary debulking was done by CO2 LASER vaporization through the bronchoscope to relieve dyspnea. Tracheal resection and end-to-end anastomosis was carried out and resection margin was examined by frozen section until no tumor was found. Postoperative course was uneventful and radiation therapy followed the surgery.
