Surgical Management of Frontal Sinus Problem

ABSTRACT

The definite treatment of the frontal sinus problems, refractory to conservative treatment, is surgical management. And various surgical methods are used acccording to severity, site and the nature of the problems. Frontal sinus operation is indicated in 1) severe recurrent frontal sinusitis complicated with fistula, persistent pain, intracranial extension, bone necrosis and orbital complications, 2) severe polyposis and inverted papilloma and other benign or malignant tumor, 3) mucocele or pyocele, and less commonly 4) frontal sinus fracture, frontal sinus foreign body. Last 5 years, the authors experienced 9 cases of various frontal sinus problems and successfully managed by surgical intervention, so are reporting these cases with review of the literatures.
