Pleomorphic Adenoma of the External Auditory Canal

ABSTRACT

Collective term "" Ceruminoma"" was a rare benign neoplasm originating from from the modified apocrine glands of the auditory canal, ceruminous gland, in prevailing histogenetic view, but some instances may derived from ectopic salivary gland tissue. Four groups of such tumors have been discribed in the literature ; 1) the 'ceruminous' adenoma and 2) the pleomorphic adenoma (mixed salivary) have invariably been associated with benign behavior, where as 3) the adenoid cystic carcinoma and 4) the 'ceruminous' adenocarcinoma have often been associated with local infiltration, recurrence and distant metastasis. The author experienced a case of pleomorphic adenoma of the right external auditory canal in 44 years old male patient who had treated by wide excision. So author report this case with review of the literature.
