ABSTRACT |
A clinical analysis of 303 patients of foreign bodies in the pharynx which were encountered in the Yang's ENT Clinic, Sokcho from Jun, 1986 to Fed, 1989 was presented. 1) Fish bone was the most frequent foreign body in the pharynx(99.3%), and Myoung Tai fish bone(30.6%) was the most frequent among the fish bone. 2) In the age of incidence, most of the patients were adult, most commonly in 4th decade(25.7%) and 18 cases(5.9%) were children under 10 years old age. 3) The palatine tonsil was the most common site of foreign body(205 cases, 67.5%) and 79 cases(26.0%) were in the vallecula. 4) In duration of lodgement, the foreign bodies of the pharynx in 226 cases(74.6%) were removed within 24 hours after ingestion of foreign body and after 7 days in 11 cases(3.6%).
