ABSTRACT

Intracranial complications of sinusitis are infrequent, but serious. Intracranial complications include meningitis, epidural abscess, subdural adscess, cerebral adscess and cavernous sinus thrombosis. The clinical picture is dependent on the history and physical findings. When intracranial extension of the infection is suspected, CT should be done. Recently, we had experienced temporal epidural abscess and cavernous sinus thrombosis secondary to acute sphenoethmoiditis. Empiric antibiotics therapy and FESS for drainage of sphenoid sinus had been performed and good result had been obtained.
