Rhabdomyosarcoma has been rarely reported in literature since 1854, when C.O. Weber described it occurred at tongue. It is highly malignant tumor of striated muscle with rapid progression and high incidence of recurrence. Horn, R.C. and Enterline, H.T. offered classification of rhabdomyosarcoma according to arrangement which is recently accepted it is as follows 1, pleomorphic type, 2, alreolar type, 3, embryonal type, 4, botryoid type, The favorite sites of this tumor are in order of head and neck, genitourinary tract and both extremities. Author has experienced a case of rhabdomyosarcoma of the pleomorphic type involving the left maxillery sinus, orbital floor and ethmoidal region in 60 years old male. We tried to treat the patient with total maxillectomy, exenteration of orbit and ethmoidal sinus and postoperative chemotherapy with cyclophosphamide 100mg I.V. the 77 days, and then authors recommened postoporative radiation. The authors were reporting a rare case of 60 years old male with plemorphic Rhabdomyosarcoma involving the left maxillary sinus. |
