ABSTRACT

Eustachian tube function study was performed in 80 paranasal sinusitis patients(159 ears) and 40 healthy adults(76 ears) using middle ear analyzer. During the test, examinees were asked to perform valsalva, politzerization, inflation and deflation maneuver. The result showed that sinusitis group had higher tubal dysfunctu on(50.3%) than control group(25%). In sinusitis group, polyp group had higher tubal dysfunctu on(57.7%) than simple sinusitis group(46.9%). Among partial dysfunctuon, negative inflatu on & deflation was most common dysfunction in both group. Mean changes of middle ear pressure were greatest in control group as a whole. We conclude that sinusitis patients have poorer E-T function and may be looked upon as a group of high risk cases.
