ABSTRACT

The author performed rhinoplasty for 4 cases of traumatic deflected nose and 6 cases of saddle nose during the past 2 years from April 1960 to April 1962. 3 cases out of 4 cases of traumatic deflected nose revealed deflection of bony nasal dorsum and good result was obtained by lateral osteotomy and outer fracturing. The remained one case showed deflection of cartilagenous nasal dorsum and satisfactory result was gained by total reconstruction of the nasal septum. Homogenous septal cartilage was transplanted for 2 cases out of 6 cases saddle nose. In one case, good result was obtained and in other one case the result was not satisfactory due to secondary infection after tenth post operation day and cartilage graft was removed. Autogenous iliac bone grafts were used for the 4 cases out of 6 cases. The good result was obtained from 3 cases and in the remained one case, bony graft was absorbed gradually after 6 months following operation.
