ABSTRACT |
Papilloma is the most common benign tumor of the larynx. There are many theories concerning its cause but the virus theory is the one most widely accepted. The incidence of malignant change shows wide divergence among various authors. Altmann et al reported 21.5% of malignant change in 1951 wheras Holinger et al reported 0% in 1950. There is no uniform method to treat the laryngeal papilloma but surgical removal of the mass under suspension laryngoscope with operating microscope is used widely. The authors have observed 3 cases of laryngeal cancers which were considered to be transformed from laryngeal papilloma.
