A statistical study of 310 cases of malignant tumors, which were histopathologically confirmed for last 10 years(1960-1969) at the Dep't of Otolaryngology, Chonnam University were carried out. Following results were obtaianed. 1) The most frequent malignant tumor was squamous cell carcinoma (205 cases, 66.1%), and the remainder were undifferentiated carcinoma (20 cases, 6.6%), malignant mixed tumor. (16 cases, 5.1%), transitional cell carcinoma (12 cases, 3.8%), adenocarcinoma (11 cases, 3.8%), fibrosarcoma (8 cases, 2.5%), Lymphoasrcoma (7 cases, 2.2%). 2) The most frequently encountered malignant tumost is the oral cavity proper (104 cases, 33.4%), and then nasal cavities and sinuses (65 cases, 21%), larynx (60 cases, 20%). 3) Age distribution showed 74.22%(230 cases) in 41-70 years. 4) Sex ratio between male and female, as a whole, was almost 2.7 : 1, however. It was 5.4 : 1 in squamouse cell carcinoma.
