A Clinical Analysis of Corrosive Esophagitis in Cheju-Do

ABSTRACT

A clinical analysis was made for the 33 cases of corrosive esophagitis in Cheju-Do provincial hospital from Jan. '71 to Dec. '72. The results were as follow ; 1) The sex ratio, male to female, was 1 : 2.3. 2) The highest incidence, 69.7% was found at the age group of 11 years to 30 years. 3) The number of cases ingested acetic acid were 30(91%). 4) 28 cases(84.8%) visited the hospital within 2 hours after ingestion of caustic agent. 5) Leucocytosis was the prominent lab. findings. 6) Esophageal stricture developed in 4 cases were expired.
