ABSTRACT |
A Wegener's Granulomatosis is one of the non healing disease in the Otolaryngologic field. This disease is charecterized by necroting granulomatosis lesion in the upper or lower respiratory tract or both, generalized focal necroting vasculitis involving both arterie and veins and granulomatous gromerulitis. A 62 years old Korean woman was seen with the complaints of nasal stuffiness, high fever, malaise, hyperrhinorrhea with foul odor and painful swelling in nasal cavity. The patient was admitted to this hospital on the April 21st 1975. The clinical findings revealed a necroting ulceration on the midlined hard palate with a perforation of 1.5cm×1.5cm. A septal perforation of 2.0cm×1.5cm and impacted necroting granulomatic tissue in the left nasal cavity were also noted. After punched biopsy were done the pathological findings from the lesion of the palate and nasal cavities indicated ulceration with acute and was described as Wegener's Granulomatosis. Having the diagnosis of Wegener's Granulomatosis along with the clinical symptoms and pathological findings, treatment was started. The choice of treatment was the broad spectrum antibiotics, steroid and methotrecate. The patient succumbed to the disease on May 4th, 1975.
