ABSTRACT |
The acoustic neuroma, which presents the symptoms of gradually progressing unilateral sensori-neural hearing loss, tinnitus and vertigo, generally arises from the vestibular schwann sheath cells within the internal acoustic meatus. As the transtemporal, translabyrinthine and transoccipital approaches are developed by W. House and Hitselberger in these recent days, many otologists are to have wide attention to the acoustic neuroma which composes three major intracranial tumors with meningioma and glioma. Recently the authors experienced a 55-year-old female patient who suffered from Antoni A type acoustic neuroma, and resected partially and decompressed the large tumor through translabyrinthine approach. So, we report this case with review of literature. |
