ABSTRACT |
This paper represents a clinical study of 30 cases of thyroid disease, which were treated surgically at Otolaryngologic Dept. of Presbyterian Hospital, Daegu during past 3 years from Jan. 1975 to Dec. 1977. In this study, the following results were obtained. 1. Of 30 cases, malignancy was 8 cases (27%) and benignancy was 22 cases (73%). 2. Sex incidence was higher in female (90% of total). 3. The highest incidence in age distribution was the 4th to 6th decades (78% of total). 4. Chief clinical features were a mass or masses in thyroid and/or neck, palpable cervical L. N, and hoarseness in malignancy ; a mass or masses in thyroid, palpitation and easy fatigubility in Benignancy. 5. Cervical L. N metastases were present in 3 cases of papillary Ca. 6. Most common postoperative complication was transient hoarseness (2 cases).
