ABSTRACT |
Mycotic infection of the paranasal sinuses may rarely occur as a chronic disease in an otherwise healthy individual. This infection is usually confined to a single paranasal sinus, the maxillary antrum. This disease is charteracized by various symptoms with similarity to specific paranasal sinusitis, and should be suspected when the sinusitis was refractory to antibiotics and antral irrigation. Authors have experienced 2 cases of mycotic infections in the maxillary sinus which were treated with surgical debridement of the antrum and drainage of sinus.: one was candidiasis, and the other was aspergillosis. So the cases were reported with a brief review of references.
