ABSTRACT |
Last several decades have witnessed the remarkable progress in early detection and the treatment of laryngeal cancer. Unfortunately, however, it cannot be proved definitely what causes a laryngeal cancer. Up until now, the laryngeal cancer is supposed to be caused by such factors as too much drinking and smoking, vocal strain, asbestos exposure, head and neck irradiation, etc. It is uncertain how tuberculosis is related with the laryngeal cancer. I have doubted if tuberculosis may have something to do with the laryngeal cancer, which leads me to work on it. This study covers the admission patients from March, 1973 to March, 1983. The results is as follows : 1) The incidence of laryngeal cancer in tuberculosis patient was higher than that of the patient without tuberculosis. 2) The incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis in laryngeal cancer patient was higher than that of the control group. 3) The range of the age of high incidence was in laryngeal cancer patients their 50's, while in laryngeal cancer patients with tuberculosis their 60's. 4) The stage of laryngeal cancer was higher in laryngeal cancer patient with tuberculosis. 5) Daily smoking amount was greater in laryngeal cancer patients. 6) Daily drinking amount was greater in laryngeal cancer patients with tuberculosis. 7) In activity, extent of tuberculosis and presence of cavity, there was no notable difference between two groups.
