ABSTRACT

Tuberculous cervical lymphadenopathy is ubiquitous in Korea and its diagnosis, treatment and pathogenesis still remains controversial. Neck mass is a prominent presenting symptom and, if a chance of malignant lesion can be excluded, it would be better to remove surgically for diagnostic therapy. Authors recently experienced 5 cases of tuberculous cervical lymphadenopathy and those results were summarized. 1) All were female and age were from 15 to 44 years old. 2) In 2 cases, pulmonary tuberculosis was associated. 3) Sites of lesion were posterior cervical lymphnode in 2 cases, jugulodigastric lymphnode in 2 cases, supraclavicular lymphnode in one case. 4) All were positive in tuberculin skin test. 5) All cases treated with excision following antituberculosis chemotherapy.
