A Case of Nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma Resected after Superselective Embolization of External Carotid Artery

ABSTRACT

Nasopharyngeal angiofibroma is uncommon highly vascular tumor which originate from the vault of nasopharynx. It is histologically benign but clinically considered malignancy because of the anatomical relationship, bleeding tendency in surgical procedure and resistance to treatment. It is trouble to surgeon for bleeding control during surgical procedure, so many of physicians have been used preoperative radiation, hormonal therapy, ligation of feeding vessels and cryotherapy to reduce the bleeding on operation. Recently, the authors experienced a case of nasopharyngeal angiofibroma that resected after superselective embolization of external carotid artery with good results and reported.
