ABSTRACT |
Nasopharyngeal angiofibroma is a benign uncommon tumor, but considered clinically malignant because of invasive tendency adjacent structure, bleeding tendency in surgical procedure and resistant to treatment. For treatment surgical resection, radiation and sex hormone therapy have been used. Of these the preferred therapy is surgery, but massive operative bleeding and incomplete excision are problemed. So preoperative radiation and sex hormone intake and ligation of external carotid artery, etc. have been studied to reduce operative hemorrhage. Recently authors experienced embolic occlusion of feeding vessel-Rt. Internal maxillary artery with Polyvinyl Alcohol and gelfoam and 4 days later, before forming of collateral circulation resected the reduced tumor mass with somewhat operative hemorrhage.
