A Rare Case of Benign Mixed Tumor on Buccal Fat Pad

ABSTRACT

The mixed tumor is the most common benign tumor of major salivary gland but mixed tumor have been found to arise on almost anywhere in the upper alimentary tract and respiratory tract like hard palate, soft palate, lip, tongue, alveolar ridge, nasal septum, paranasal sinus, mandible, larynx, pharynx, trachea, esophagus, external auditory canal and middle ear as a minor salivary gland tumor. However it is extremely rare to arise on buccal fat pad. Authos have recently experienced mixed tumor of buccal fat pad in 23-year-old woman. Under a general anesthesia, surgical removal was performed and pathologic report was mixed tumor. A brief review of the literature was made.
